  Outlining the process of obtaining and qualifying for your CCW Permit 

 

Live shooting qualification:

A total of 30 rounds. Firearms with less than a 5 shot capacity will have to be reloaded at each stage to comply with the 5 shot capacity standards.

 A minimum score of 70% is required to pass, and shall be indicated on the certificate as “Pass/Fail” only. 

The Shooting Test

Using your preferred pistol and stance, shoot 30 rounds at a standard B-27 silhouette target. You must score 70% to pass. If you don’t pass, you may re-shoot until you do. 

The course of fire is as follows:

  • Shoot 6 rounds with the target at 3 yards

  • Shoot 12 rounds with the target at 5 yards

  • Shoot 12 rounds with the target at 7 yards

Legal  Requirements:

  • You must be at least twenty-one years old or eighteen years old if you are a member of the military or honorably discharged from service.

  • You must be a legal resident of the United States.

  • You must not be a dishonorably discharged officer from the United States Armed Forces.

  • You must submit proof that you passed Nevada concealed carry permit class.

  • You must not be a fugitive or have an arrest warrant in your name.

  • You must not be a mentally disabled person.

  • You must not be a patient of a psychiatric home or any other mental institution , for five years before Nevada concealed carry permit application.

  • You must not be a narcotic or a drug addict for any substance that is under control by the drug agency, including charges for driving under the influence for five years before applying for a CCW permit.

  • You must not be a marijuana patient.

  • You must not be a convict for any crime that has to do with using violent force or misdemeanor for three years before a CCW application.

  • You must not be a convicted felon.

  • You must not be involved in criminal activities that have to do with domestic violence, stalking, or have a restraining judge order for violence protection.

  • You must not be on parole or probation.

  • You must not provide a falsified application statement.

  • You must not have a court order that prohibits you from the possession of firearms either under state laws or federal laws.

  • You must meet all federal law requirements for concealed carry permit applications.

 

What’s comes after I’ve qualified? 

 

After qualifying you will need to complete the application, take it with you to Las Vegas Metro and provide the following documents.

  • Training certificate.

  • Proof of residence that you reside in the county you are applying from. 

    • This could be a state-issued driver’s license.

  • A United States citizenship proof.

  • The required fee.

  • Provide your fingerprint and a photograph.

 

Please note...DO NOT SIGN YOUR APPLICATION PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH METRO. You have to sign it in the presence of a witness officer before submitting it.

 

How Long is Nevada CCW Permits Valid For?

Nevada CCW permit is valid for five years.

 

What Is The Processing Period For Nevada CCW Application?

The processing period is four months.

 

Can I Apply For Non-resident CCW Permit In Nevada?

Nevada issues both resident and non-resident permits.

As long as you meet the requirements, you can apply.

The application process is the same as that of the resident’s permit. 

We are so fortunate to have the Second Amendment, with this amazing  privilege, also comes great responsibility. 

Equally  important, is understanding the importance of investing time and money into proper training. Following qualification, recognizing your journey as a CCW holder is just the beginning. Practice and training are essential, as this is a perishable skill.

A Firearm is a tool of last resort, ideally, taking into consideration, the ability to: AVOID, ESCAPE, and if there is no other alternative DEFEND yourself.
